Corey O’Keeffe is a fast, skilful defender who excels in the wingback position. His ability to mystify would-be tacklers along the touchline is matched by his tenacity and will to win as he bombs forward to create opportunities for FGR’s forward players.
The first summer signing for Ian Burchnall, Corey is a key part the head coach’s plans already, having featured in all of FGR’s 2022/23 league fixtures at the time of writing. A versatile player, he will play down the right, or on the left, cutting inside onto his favoured right foot.
His ability to mystify would-be tacklers along the touchline is matched by his tenacity.
Prior to joining FGR, Corey enjoyed a successful 2021/22 campaign with Rochdale, making 51 appearances, scoring five goals and creating nine in all competitions. Born in Birmingham, he joined the Birmingham City academy and as he developed had spells with Macclesfield and Mansfield before joining Rochdale.
There’s always a buzz of excitement when Corey receives the ball and carries it forward up the pitch. The New Lawn will erupt when he scores.
