2021/22 was a career season for the young striker. Netting 23 times he formed an incredible striking partnership with club captain, Jamille Matt. Together, the Matt Attack scored 42 league goals and helped the Green Devils win the League Two title, catapulting the club into League One for the first time in its history. Both strikers featured in the PFA’s League Two Team of the Year.
Unfortunately, Matty’s season was curtailed 10 games early by a knee injury, which required surgery and a long lay-off. At the time of writing, fans are looking forward to his return to the side during the 2022/23 campaign. His scoring touch could be crucial in helping Rovers solidify their presence in League One.
Some little-known facts about Matty – he won four titles as a youth boxer, before becoming Barnet’s youngest ever player and youngest ever goal scorer.
