Working daily with Luke McGee, Lewis Thomas and Alfie Burnett, the FGR Goalkeeping Coach Dan Connor has two main objectives. The first is to ensure that all three keepers compete hard to be the first-choice goalie in the side. The second is to keep goals against to a minimum.
He has the coaching ability and experience to help our netminders perform at their optimum level game in, game out. Since he joined Forest Green Rovers early during the 2019/20 season, the side has been difficult to score against and has built up an enviable away record because of this.
Prior to joining FGR, Dan spent five years helping Wigan Athletic develop their keepers at academy and first team levels. He’s worked with the football associations of the Republic of Ireland and Wales, as well as coaching with Hereford United and Shrewsbury Town.
As a player, Dan achieved the highest honours in the League of Ireland, winning the championship, FAI Cup and two Setanta Cups with Drogheda Rangers between 2005 and 2008. Previously, he came through as a professional at Peterborough United, then joined Waterford. Dan also enjoyed a spell at Cork City, and represented the Republic of Ireland at under-21 level.
