Ben Stevenson has impressed fans with his energy, work rate, tackling and distribution since joining the club in the summer of 2021. Bringing with him plenty of League One and League Two experience at both Coventry City and Colchester United, he is a lynchpin of the Forest Green Rovers midfield, competing to win the ball, covering the ground and defending, and building attacking moves from deep.
A stalwart at Colchester in recent seasons, Ben steps into the FGR midfield with plenty of experience and a winning mentality.
With 44 appearances, Ben was vital to FGR’s League Two championship-winning season in League Two during 2021/22. He will be helping take the club to the next level as it competes in League One for the first time in its history through 2022/23.
Signing with Rovers on a two-year contract, Ben has past experience playing with big clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers, whom he joined after winning the EFL Trophy with Coventry City in 2017. It’s a combination of a winning mentality, playing experience and an ability to read the game that FGR has found in this midfielder each time he pulls on the green and black jersey.
The Leicester-born player also has experience playing on loan for Wolves’ partner club Jumilla in Spain. Watch for his tackling and high-tempo passing as he helps Rovers gain possession, advance up the pitch and create chances.
