Rovers are back at The Bolt New Lawn once again this Saturday in the lunchtime kick-off as they take on Exeter City in League One action.
Head Coach Ian Burchnall and his side will be hoping to build on the midweek Papa John’s Trophy victory and bounce back from last week’s late defeat to Morecambe.
Here we take a look at this weekend’s opponents the Grecians who travel to GL6 for the sixth season in a row.
IN THE DUGOUT: MATT TAYLOR
Former Exeter centre-back turned manager Matt Taylor became the gaffer at St James Park back in June 2018 replacing the long serving Paul Tisdale.
Taylor had a 16 year playing career where he most notably played for the Grecians, making over 150 appearances during a four-year spell at the club.
The 40-year-old went on to have brief spells with Cheltenham Town, Newport County and Bath City before hanging up his boots in 2016.
He took the role at the helm in Devon ahead of the 2018/19 season and led the Grecians to two near play-off misses and one play-off final defeat before promotion last term.
Taylor and his side have had a mixed start to the season so far on their return to the third tier with convincing home wins over Wycombe Wanderers and Port Vale the highlights.
ONE TO WATCH: JEVANI BROWN
Exeter ace and former FGR loanee Jevani Brown joined the club from Colchester United at the start of last season and played a big part In City’s promotion.
Brown played for MK Dons and Peterborough United during his youth before spells in Non-League with the likes of Kettering Town, Stamford and St Neots Town.
The 27-year-old would join Cambridge United in 2017 for a first spell in the EFL before he moved to Colchester just under two years later.
The Jamaican youth international scored 11 times in 62 games for the U’s either side of a brief loan spell in GL6 where he made just 5 appearances.
Brown went on to join the Grecians before the start of last season and had an impressive 19 goal involvements in the league as the side were promoted.
And he has enjoyed a prolific start to this season as well having already scored three goals and added three assists in the opening nine League One games.

PLAYED FOR BOTH SIDES
Rovers’ rock at the back Jordan Moore-Taylor began his career with the Grecians after coming through the clubs academy system.
Born in Exeter, Jordy made his professional debut for the club in August 2012 and went on to make just shy of 200 appearances before joining MK Dons in 2018.
He made the move to Rovers ahead of the 2020/21 season and has now played nearly 100 games for the club, playing a massive part in our League Two title win last season.
LAST TIME OUT
Exeter fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of a Burton Albion side involved in just their second match without former manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
It was a fairly quiet opening 45 minutes in Devon that saw the best chance fall to the away side, as Victor Adeboyejo’s close ranged header was saved off the line.
The Brewers eventually had the lead just after the hour mark as Adedeji Oshilaja smashed home the opener across goal to make it 1-0.
And it was two just over five minutes later as Davis Keillor-Dunn met Sam Hughes’ cross to volley Burton toward a first league victory of the season.
The result means Exeter remain in mid table on 11 points whilst Burton’s first win isn’t enough to take them off the foot of the table.
